We’ve already introduced you to a some key places in the Harry Potter world (see parts 1 and 2, here) but here are four more we think you'll want to know about!
Hagrid's Hut: Hagrid the gamekeeper lives in a small wooden cabin on the edge of the Hogwarts lawn, next to the Forbidden Forest. There is only one room, but there's almost always a cozy fire going, which makes it an ideal place for Harry, Ron and Hermione to visit. Whenever they come for tea, Hagrid likes to serve them rock cakes that are a little too hard to chew. Hagrid keeps his pets in or around his hut, including Fang the Boarhound and Norbert the Dragon.
Diagon Alley: In London, behind the brick back wall of the Leaky Cauldron Pub, sits a magical shopping area. The alley is home to a number of stores that carry everything found on the Hogwarts supply list, so it's a good stop for first years. Some of these stores include Ollivander's Wand Shop, Eeylops Owl Emporium, Flourish and Blotts, Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions and Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour.
Knockturn Alley: This shopping area is located off Diagon Alley in London, and it is filled with shops devoted to the Dark Arts. Here you can buy objects like poisonous candles, shrunken heads and human bones. It is considered a "dodgy place" by Hagrid, and most witches and wizards tend to avoid it. Knockturn Alley is home to Borgin and Burkes, an antique shop specializing in dark objects.
The Forbidden Forest: This forest borders the edges of Hogwarts and is strictly off limits to students without supervision. Also called the Dark Forest, it is home to a number of magical creatures including centaurs, unicorns, hippogriffs, wolves and acromantulas. You wouldn't want to meet any of these creatures after dark, so very few students ever try to enter the Forbidden Forest on their own. Harry and his friends have visited the forest on a few occasions, including detention with Hagrid their first year.
