Quidditch Central

Posted by Shara

Sure, we have soccer and baseball, but nothing compares to the primary sport in the wizarding world --- Quidditch, which involves flying on broomsticks, shooting balls through hoops, avoiding getting knocked to the ground by two balls made of iron and catching the tiny, golden snitch.

While it doesn’t quite translate into the Muggle (non-wizard) world, plenty of people have tried to create a human version! Here are the basic rules if you want to play. If you want more information, you can visit the website for the International Quidditch Association (yes, that’s a real thing), and you can even watch a fun tutorial, here!

If you do decide to play, though, one of the key components is making a Quidditch jersey! Here are some expert tips:

1. Paint, paint, paint. Puffy and fabric paint for your shirts. Get your war paint on your face. Ladies, coordinate your makeup. There’s no end to how much you can paint yourself for this sport. Get crazy and have fun!

2. Exploit those color combos. Get creative with each of the color duos for the houses. Ladies, make red and gold ribbons for your hair, or maybe even blue and silver team bracelets. Gentlemen, how about some green and black sweatbands? The more you have the colors paired together, the more obvious your house pride will be!

3. Make a team design. Collaborate on your own unique logos for your team. How about a snake wrapped around the Snitch for Slytherin? A badger holding the Snitch, already triumphant, for Hufflepuff? The possibilities are endless! It’s also a great exercise in team building.

4. Don’t forget your names! Just like in the movies, make sure you have your last name on the back, and you can decorate it to your liking. A great way to show off your personality.

5. And don’t be afraid to accessorize. Like I mentioned earlier, grab some extra matching gear for your team. Sweatbands/headbands, knee highs, etc. Make sure they’re house colors! You can even think outside the box and pick a special accessory that only your team has. Get creative and have fun!
