*Disclaimer* I am writing from halfway through MOCKINGJAY --- the final book in THE HUNGER GAMES Trilogy. Right now I am Team Gale. My friends have ordered me to finish the trilogy before I pick my team. However, for research purposes I am going to write down my opinions before I get to the moment where whatever happens --- according to aforementioned friend --- is Gale’s fault.
Why I am Team Gale:
- I like outdoorsmen more than I like bakers.
- I bet Gale smells like Earth and cedar, and Peeta probably smells like bread. Don’t get me wrong, bread is a nice scent, but reminiscent of my mother, which is awkward.
- Gale is probably lean and tan from hours hunting. Sure, Peeta has big muscles from lifting all those bags of flour, but he has brute strength whereas Gale is more athletic and has better endurance.
- Besides proving how smart he is, Gale is mostly likely good with his hands from setting all those traps. I suspect he has magical fingers. He can snare my heart any day ;) Peeta kneads dough all day; something tells me he’s not very gentle.
- Not only is Gale good with traps and other weapons, but he is graceful and light on his feet in the woods. Katniss points out how clumsy Peeta is when trying to sneak around. Seriously guys his greatest survival skill is camouflage, puh-lease. If I was Katniss, I would feel much safer with Gale in the arena with me.
Lets talk personality:
- Peeta claims to have had a crush on Katniss for years, but has NEVER talked to her before the train ride into The Capitol. First, how does he know her well enough to really be in love with her? He’s probably just in love with the idea of her. Gale actually knows Katniss due to hours spent in the woods TALKING. Yeah, he never made a move (which is annoying on both their parts), but because he respects her, not because he’s intimidated by her (like Peeta).
- Related to that point, Gale is confident and strong-willed. Katniss is an intimidating woman, which is why we love her so much. Gale and Katniss make a great match because they are equally awesome.
- I love a man who knows his politics. And he’s a revolutionary? Swoon. Gale is smart enough to figure out the act of The Capitol. Unlike Katniss, I would hang onto every word of his angry rants. I also love a man who’s passionate about something; he’ll never be satisfied with a dull life.
- Gale is also a leader. I don’t know if I’m getting too far ahead, but read MOCKINGJAY to see why.
- So, that’s my list as of right now. Yes, Peeta does have some great characteristics like cuddliness, but I suppose which team you are on is simply a matter of personal preference. I’ll let you know if my team changes.
