IfYouAskMe.jpg20-year-old Jenna Shear from DeKalb, IL and 17-year-old Kamila from Brampton, ON --- our two readers participating in today's If You Ask Me... Q&A --- are both big fans of fantasy series, so if your tastes steer you in similar directions, read on to find out what they have to say about Harry Potter, the Gemma Doyle Trilogy, the Mortal Instruments books, and more!

If you could trade places with any character from a book for a day, who would you be and why?

I would choose Gemma from the Gemma Doyle series because she holds the power to go into magical realms. I think it would be amazing to visit there at least once in my life.

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

COLLEGE GIRL. I would suggest it to a friend, I actually already have. It's great because it teaches you to accept yourself for who you are and not worry so much about what others think of you.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

Jacob from the Twilight series because he seems to be really outgoing and fun, Tally Youngblood from the Uglies series, and Ron Weasley from Harry Potter because he has a good sense of humor.

Do you have a favorite quote from a book? If so, what is it?

"Promises are like glamour, in time they fade."

- REBEL ANGELS, by Libba Bray

I know it's not very happy but I think it's a neat metaphor.

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer, I love the romance in it as well as the fantasy of it all. From the Twilight Saga I like ECLIPSE the best. And from the Harry Potter series, I like the GOBLET OF FIRE over the others.

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

I think I would choose Libba Bray because I'd like to see where she got the ideas for her series from.

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

I've seen many movies based on books. Harry Potter, Twilight, The Notebook, etc. I'd have to say I like the books better but I still like to see the action of them by watching the movies. Movies cut the stories short, that is why I like books more than movies.

Tell us about your favorite book series.

It'd have to be the Gemma Doyle series (A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY) because I like the fantasy genre. Plus there is romance involved, which will never get old.

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

The last book I read was THE CITY OF ASHES. It was really good and would recommend it to my firends, but you would need to read the first one. It had a story filled with love and adventure that made me want to read what happens next. Can't wait to get the third book !

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

I think I have like 40 characters that I would ask to come. There's always one from each novel I read that I wish were real. But, my top three would be from Ian from THE HOST, Jace from the Mortal instruments trilogy, and finally Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

I have so many books that are my favourite but if I had to choose just three, they would be Harry Potter, A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY and VAMPIRE ACADEMY.

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

I've seen a lot of movies, but the best and most acurate has to be Harry Potter. It is amazing and I love the special effects, but the book is better. The movies are just as good but I love J.K.'s writting and the details in the book.
