If You Ask Me... : Kiana from Palm Bay, FL and Rachel from McComb, MS

Posted by Marisa Emralino

IfYouAskMe.jpgTaking part in today's edition of the If You Ask Me... Q&A are 14-year-old Kiana from Palm Bay, FL and 15-year-old Rachel from McComb, MS.  Below, they discuss the shortcomings of the Twilight movies, sentimentally significant reads, and favorite characters who feel like long-lost friends.

Kiana from Palm Bay, FL

If you could trade places with any character from a book for a day, who would you be and why?

Since it's just one day, it'd be Thomas from THE MAZE RUNNER by James Dashner. I want to see the Glade up close.

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

The last book I've read was BLEEDING VIOLET by Dia Reeves. Yes, I would recommend it to a friend because it was different. A little strange since the main character could speak with her deceased father and the mosters lurking in the town. It was nice to read something different from all the sappy lovey dovey teen books (though I am one of those hopeless romantic people). It was just fun to go someplace different and exciting.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

Katniss from THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins. I love her courage. Also, I want to ask a few questions... as to how to gain more courage myself.

Alice from The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. She''s just a cute, ball of engery. Who wouldn''t want that at a party?

Virgina from THE TENDER YEARS by Janette Oke. I just want to give her a hug. She seems like a long lost friend.

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

A MAP OF THE KNOWN WORLD by Lisa Ann Sandell, THE HORSE AND HIS BOY by C. S. Lewis and THE MAZE RUNNER by James Dashner.

A MAP OF THE KNOWN WORLD was the first book to make me cry. I've read it two times and can't help but choke up just thinking about it. It really touched and pulled on my heart strings. THE HORSE AND HIS BOY is a book that I like, but don't really know why. I guess I have that adverture bone somewhere in me. THE MAZE RUNNER... mmm, I''ve been obessing over this book for awhile. It was just so supensful. I had a million questions by the time the first chapter was over. The first book I''ve read in the Sci-Fi genre... other than Planet of the Apes.

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

C.S. Lewis. Three questions:

How did you come to think of should an amazing place like Narnia?

Why did you chose to make Susan stop believing in Narnia?

How come when you get to a certian age you can not return to Narnia?

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

Twlight: I thought the book was better. They left out some amazing parts, but I understand you can''t put everything into the movie.

Anne of Green Gables: Nomally the book is better then the movie, but I enjoyed he movie more. It stayed true to the book, plus the casting is great.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

1. Mr.Darcy, because he's Mr.Darcy.

2. Hermoine Granger, because I think she rocks and we would get along.

3. Gemma Doyle, because I have a lot of questions for her.

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

I hope a series can count as one book. Here are my top 3:

1. The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray

2.THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer

3. THE JACKAL'S HEAD by Barbara Michaels

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

I dont usually watch movies based on books because the movie never lives up to the book standard, in my opinion. But I recently watched the Twilight movie. I personally don't think it was nearly as wonderful as the book, but it would be hard to fit all that information into an hour-and-thirty-minute movie. Plus, I became so attached to the characters in the book that nothing but my imagination could make them more real.

Tell us about your favorite book series.

The Gemma Doyle Trilogy is my all-time favorite series, hands down. The characters seemed so real it was like I was going through everything with them. I read all three books multiple times, and still compare real-life experiences to the books. They were amazing :)
