Posted by webmaster
13-year-old Brigitte from Cheshire, CT and 16-year-old Marissa Labadie from Miami FL join us for today's installment of the Reader Q&A, where they share favorite quotes, list some memorable recent reads, and weigh in on the infamous book-vs.-movie debate.

Brigitte from Cheshire, CT
What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

The last book I read was SHIVER by Stiefvater. I would suggest it to a friend because it was a little similar to TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer. Anyone who likes TWILIGHT will like SHIVER.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

Max Ride from the Maximum Ride series.

Do you have a favorite quote from a book? If so, what is it?

"You...are...a...fridge...with...wings...we...are...freakin'...ballet...dancers."
- Fang, from MAXIMUM RIDE

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

Twilight - film
The Lovely Bones - book
Harry Potter - film

If you could trade places with any character from a book for a day, who would you be and why?

I've read a lot of cool characters, so that's hard! It would probably be a strong heroine, like Nancy Drew (even if she's always in dangerous situations).

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

The last book I read was THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak. I would definitely recommend it, it was great! I loved the writing style and I thought the story was really powerful.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

1. Alice Cullen - She throws the best parties and is just awesome!
2. Holden Caulfield - I love THE CATCHER IN THE RYE and I love Holden''s view of the world, even if he can be a bit annoying.
3. Jace Wayland - He would definitely be fun to hang out with and is an interesting character.

Do you have a favorite quote from a book? If so, what is it?

I have way too many but it would probably be something romantic, haha.

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

1. MATILDA: I know it''s a children''s book, but I've read it twice and I just love it. I love Roald Dahl's style and the story is really creative.

2. TWILIGHT - It may not be the most original story or the best writing, but has interesting characters and is just a great series. I just fell in love with it.

3. LITTLE WOMEN - The sisters are great and I love the writing. One of my favorite classics.

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

Hmm...

1. I would ask William Shakespeare if he ever thought his plays would be so popular.
2. I would love to talk to J.D Salinger, since he''s so reclusive, and ask him why that is so.
3. I would ask Stephenie Meyer if she will ever publish Midnight Sun! x|

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

I have seen many movies based on books, as that seems to be everything Hollywood is making these days, due to the success of Twilight. With all book-turned-movies, the books will always be better, but there are some movies that fortunately stay true to the book, like Matilda. I also thought that The Lovely Bones was pretty great, as well as a few others. I think the Harry Potter movies are definitely the best ones based on books.

Tell us about your favorite book series.

The Twilight Saga is my favorite book series, mostly due to the romance. But I love series books and I really love the Mortal Instruments series and the Gemma Doyle Trilogy.
