The 2022 Kirkus Prize

The winners of the 2022 Kirkus Prize were announced on October 27th in a hybrid ceremony at the Austin Central Library in Austin, Texas, hosted by Kirkus Media CEO Meg LaBorde Kuehn and streamed live on YouTube.

The 2022 Booker Prize

The 2022 Booker Prize has been awarded to Shehan Karunatilaka for his second novel, THE SEVEN MOONS OF MAALI ALMEIDA. The book tells the story of a war photographer who has woken up dead in what seems to be a celestial visa office. He has "seven moons" to try and solve the mystery of his death and to help unveil a cache of photos that will rock war-torn Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that Karunatilka is the second Sri Lankan author to win the Booker Prize, following Michael Ondaatje, who won in 1992 for THE ENGLISH PATIENT. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2022

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2022 has been awarded to French author Annie Ernaux “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory.” In her writing, Ernaux consistently and from different angles examines a life marked by strong disparities regarding gender, language and class. Her path to authorship was long and arduous.

2022 Thriller Awards

On June 4th, during ThrillerFest XVII, the International Thriller Writers (ITW) announced the winners of the 2022 Thriller Awards at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City.

The 2022 International Booker Prize

The winner of the 2022 International Booker Prize is TOMB OF SAND by Geetanjali Shree, translated from Hindi by Daisy Rockwell. This is the first book originally written in any Indian language to win the International Booker Prize, and the first novel translated from Hindi to be recognized by the award. Set in northern India, the novel follows the adventures of an 80-year-old woman who unexpectedly gains a new, and highly unconventional, lease on life.

Edgar Allan Poe Awards 2022

The Mystery Writers of America has announced the winners for the 2022 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, honoring the best in mystery fiction, nonfiction and television published or produced in 2021.

Los Angeles Times Book Prizes 2021

The 42nd annual Los Angeles Times Book Prizes were awarded on April 22nd. The best books of 2021 were recognized in 12 categories, along with the winners of the Robert Kirsch and Innovator’s awards.

Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction 2022

Congratulations to Tom Lin and Hanif Abdurraqib, the 2022 winners of the Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction. Lin won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction for his novel, THE THOUSAND CRIMES OF MING TSU, published by Little, Brown and Company, a division of Hachette Book Group. Abdurraqib won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction for his book, A LITTLE DEVIL in America: In Praise of Black Performance, published by Random House, a division of Penguin Random House.
