The 2024 Kirkus Prize

The winners of the 2024 Kirkus Prize in the categories of Fiction, Nonfiction and Young Readers’ Literature were announced on October 16th in an in-person ceremony at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York that also was livestreamed on Kirkus's YouTube channel.

Kirkus editor-in-chief Tom Beer said, “This year’s prize-winning books --- each written with elegance and lucidity --- illuminate tragedies both personal and historical, helping us to better understand our world and the spirit of human resilience.”

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2024

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2024 has been awarded to South Korean author Han Kang “for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.” She has a unique awareness of the connections between body and soul, the living and the dead, and in her poetic and experimental style has become an innovator in contemporary prose.

Macavity Awards 2024

The winners of this year’s Macavity Awards have been announced. The Macavity Award is named for the “mystery cat” of T.S. Eliot (OLD POSSUM'S BOOK OF PRACTICAL CATS). Each year the members of Mystery Readers International nominate and vote for their favorite mysteries in five categories.
 

2024 Anthony Awards

The 2024 Anthony Awards were announced at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, which took place this year in Nashville. The award is named for the late Anthony Boucher, the distinguished mystery fiction critic, editor and author, who helped found Mystery Writers of America.

2024 Thriller Awards

On June 1st, during ThrillerFest XIX, the International Thriller Writers (ITW) announced the winners of the 2024 Thriller Awards at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City.

The 2024 International Booker Prize

The winner of the 2024 International Booker Prize is KAIROS by Jenny Erpenbeck, translated by Michael Hofmann. Erpenbeck becomes the first German writer to win the prize (she was longlisted in 2018), and Hofmann is the first male translator to win it.

The novel, which was originally written in German, follows a destructive affair between a young woman and an older man in 1980s East Berlin, with the two lovers seemingly embodying East Germany’s crushed idealism. A meditation on hope and disappointment, KAIROS poses complex questions about freedom, loyalty, love and power.

Edgar Allan Poe Awards 2024

The Mystery Writers of America has announced the winners for the 2024 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, honoring the best in mystery fiction, nonfiction and television published or produced in 2023.

Los Angeles Times Book Prizes 2023

The 44th annual Los Angeles Times Book Prizes were awarded on April 19th. The best books of 2023 were recognized in 12 categories, along with the winners of the Robert Kirsch and Innovator’s awards.

The National Book Critics Circle Awards 2023

The winners of the 2023 National Book Critics Circle Awards were announced on March 21st during a ceremony at the New School in New York City.

The Audie Awards 2024

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) has announced the winners of the 2024 Audie Awards®, the premier awards program in the United States recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.
