TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE is a brisk read set in the beach town of Newburyport, Massachusetts, which is where author Meg Mitchell Moore lives. She made me want to visit there.

The book is told from four points of view. One is from the Mom Squad, a clique of mothers who all have daughters the same age; the moms seem to be stuck in high school mode. A woman shows up in town with her daughter, and her past is rather murky. Who is she, and what is she hiding? Another mom is a widow. Is she, or is she not, dating. What’s her story? And her daughter seems to have a secret life.

This is a real beach escape read, much like Meg’s previous book, THE ISLANDERS, was last year.
