On a recent trip to England this past summer, I was lucky enough to get an intimate tour of the Dennis Severs' House in the Spitalfields neighborhood of downtown London. The initial point of my trip abroad was to visit my sister and her fiancé (who live across the pond), drink tea at 4pm like the locals, and eat some downright delicious Indian food --- my favorite! But, you know how things go: just when you snuggle comfortably into vacay-relaxation mode, some very cool opportunities come up that cannot be missed.

The other night a few of us from The Book Report Network were lucky enough to score some press passes to a prescreening of Insurgent, the second installment in the theatrical adaptation of Veronica Roth's Divergent series. We were most excited to see our beloved YA hot shot Shailene Woodley and muscular heartthrob Theo James steam up the screen...and maybe get some free popcorn, but who's keeping track? The movie was a quick-paced, action-packed, two-hour dystopian extravaganza, complete with an oppressive government, a slew of anger-fueled rebels and a perfectly-matched dynamic duo whose love conquers all...literally.

Veronica Roth's bestselling YA Divergent series made its long-awaited theatrical debut last Friday. I was lucky enough (thanks to HarperCollins!) to catch an advanced screening on Thursday afternoon at one of the best theaters (and a personal fave!) in town. Just like any other Superfan (or diehard movie enthusiast), I would have willingly waited in line for a good seat at midnight as the flick delivered a star-studded cast, great music and the best part of all, a compelling story. But it was all made so much more enjoyable with a courtesy small popcorn and soda in hand. And I can't forget to mention the brief, but very heartfelt speech Roth gave as an introduction to the movie (yes, she was present in flesh and blood) --- she has a way of making each and every one of her readers feel like a special part of her book's growing success. I'll give you some highlights of the movie that are sure to make you more pumped about your planned viewing for this upcoming weekend...in case you haven't seen it yet. (But, seriously...have you been living under a rock?!)

It happened. The fateful night when the season six finale of "True Blood" overlapped with the second episode of the last season of "Breaking Bad," leaving all viewers on their toes. Over the past several years, it's come to my attention that the Sunday Night 9pm TV slot is definitively award-winning. Viewers have spent the day relaxing (Sunday Fun Day), doing all the things they don't have the time to do during their busy workday schedules.

When TBRN founder Carol attended the launch/delayed book party for ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK back in June, we knew something interesting would come of it. Carol came in the next day saying that we had to get our hands on some copies immediately. Within a few minutes, I had sent someone over to Random House (a few blocks away from our offices) to pick some up. Emily and I started reading that very night as the series was being released on Netflix in early July.

This past Monday morning, Bookreporter.com Editorial Director Tom Donadio, Teenreads.com Content Coordinator Liz Kossnar and I attended the Columbia University Graduate Publishing Course (CPC) career fair. It was a little bit of a trip down memory lane, as Liz and I both completed the six-week intensive program, three years ago and last summer, respectively. During the course, we learned all the ins and outs of publishing --- book, magazine and digital.

20Somethings understand that dating is a whole different beast for our generation than it was for our parents. With the rise of texting, the Internet, the cost of movie tickets (not to mention, the cost of a small popcorn at the movies) and pretty much everything else that leaves us penniless, it seems next to impossible for the stars to perfectly align in this day and age. Time is fleeting --- and beyond valuable --- and we move quickly. We move so quickly in fact, that online dating is the only outlet for our TKTKTKTKTKTK.*

Back in mid-April, America was being teased with pre-premiere series clips of What Would Ryan Lochte Do? Finally drying off the residual pool sprinkles from the Summer Olympics 2012, Lochte took an Olympic-sized break to film his highly-anticipated TV show on E!. While this eye candy is charming the pants off all the 20something, 30something, 40something (and so on) women around the country...he is simulatenously supplying media outlets with tear-inducing material.
