Each month, our Books on Screen feature spotlights movies, television shows, miniseries and specials that are based on books of various genres --- including novels, memoirs, comics, children's books, short stories and poetry --- along with the latest DVD releases.

Season’s greetings, Books on Screen lovers! If you’re at all worried about appearances when Santa comes to town, it might be best to avoid the dim and dismal movies that hit theaters this month. The entertainment itself is brilliant, but I bet there will be plenty of crying and pouting in theaters nationwide.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 comes to theaters November 20th, and we can't wait! Here are some ways to celebrtate and get excited for the final installment...May the odds be ever in your favor.

  • Watch (or rewatch) the trailer.

  • Read this hilarious interview with the cast.

DVD releases are where it's at this month! We have the newest Cinderella remake, which stars a fantastic cast including Lily James and Helena Bonham Carter, out September 15th. There's also Pitch Perfect 2 with awesome musical numbers from your favorite tracks, releasing September 22nd. Also the boys from the Glade are back in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, out in theaters September 18th!
