Jen Klein

Biography

Jen Klein

A transplant from North Carolina, Jen Klein kept a little of her Appalachian accent, a lot of her Appalachian manners and undying gratitude for the Appalachian State University professor who made her believe she was a writer.

Jen’s first produced episode of television was for “Totally Spies,” which she wrote with her then-and-still-sometimes-writing-partner, Michael Stokes.  In a bizarre twist of fate that no one could have predicted, Michael is now Jen’s uncle.  Jen takes full credit for his marriage to her Aunt Sally.

"Totally Spies" was followed by many others, including “Bratz,” “Dinosaur Train,” “Pet Alien,” “Word World,” “I Got A Rocket” and “Danger Rangers.” Jen was also contracted by Walt Disney Television Animation to write the pilot for “Kingdom Hearts.”  And, although Jen was Emmy-nominated for her work on “Toddworld” for Discovery Kids, nothing compares to the time she spent at George Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch, writing for “Clone Wars.”  It’s a geeky girl’s dream come true.

More recently, Jen dove into her first novel and found that she loves it.  She is very excited about moving more seriously into the book world, specifically to be writing YA series (both realistic and with a paranormal edge) with an eye toward their adaptation to film and television.

In her spare time, Jen has been known to write logic puzzles for PennyPress Publications.  She is an active member of Writers Guild of America, west. Jen is represented by Lisa Gallagher of Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.  She is managed by Matt Horwitz and James Engle at Echo Lake Entertainment.  In May of 2013, she followed her screenwriting agent Rina Brannen to the Rothman Brecher Agency.
