Colleen McCullough, a native of Australia, established the department of neurophysiology at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney before working as a researcher at Yale Medical School for 10 years. She was the bestselling author of numerous novels, including THE THORN BIRDS, which spawned an acclaimed television miniseries starring Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Jean Simmons, Christopher Plummer and Barbara Stanwyck. She passed away on January 29, 2015 at the age of 77.
