Inside the halls of ILLC, an institution for juveniles with disabilities, we discover a place that is deeply different from and yet remarkably the same as the world outside. In this isolated place on Chicago’s South Side, friendships are forged, trust is built, and love affairs begin. It’s in these alliances that the residents of this neglected community ultimately find the strength to bond together, resist their mistreatment, and finally fight back. And in the process, each is transformed.
A woman is found dead, and an incoherent man covered in blood is found next to her body. She is a beloved lady of the German court, and he is a well-known Englishman with connections. Those connections happen to involve being the brother-in-law of Harriet Westerman, a woman who isn’t scared off easily and is always ready to investigate a murder, especially if it involves a member of her family. With her friend Gabriel Crowther’s help, a new investigation begins.
Nick and Budgie Greenwald are an unwelcome specter from New York socialite Lily Dane’s past: her former best friend and her former fiancé, now recently married. Budgie’s arrival to restore her family’s old house puts her once more in the center of the community’s social scene. The ties that bind Lily to Nick are too strong and intricate to ignore, and the two are drawn back into long-buried dreams, despite their uneasy secrets and many emotional obligations.
Odd Thomas has the ability to commune with restless spirits and help them find justice and peace. But this time, it’s the living who desperately need Odd on their side. Three innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. The potential victims are a mystery, but Odd will do what he must to save them --- confronting a sinister foe and the limits of his very own mortality.
Detective Carl Mørck holds in his hands a bottle that contains an old and decayed message, written in blood. It is a cry for help from two young brothers, tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. Who are these boys, and why weren’t they reported missing? Carl’s investigation will force him to cross paths with a woman stuck in a desperate marriage. He and his colleagues must use all of their resources to uncover the horrifying truth.
Convicted murderer Jamey Dixon comes back to Jericho preaching redemption, but for the victim’s family, the only thought is revenge. The men in prison from Dixon’s last job, an armored car robbery, also don’t believe him; they break out and head straight to Jericho. Quinn Colson and his deputy, Lillie, know they have their work cut out for them, but they don’t count on a tornado that causes havoc just as events come to a head.
In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen --- a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills --- brings him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, but unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.
Kate and her identical twin sister, Violet, were born with innate psychic abilities concerning future events and other people’s secrets. Now, years later, their different paths have led them both back to their hometown of St. Louis. When a minor earthquake hits in the middle of the night, the normal life Kate has always wished for begins to shift. She is ultimately forced to reconcile her fraught relationship with her sister and to face truths about herself she has long tried to deny.
