Amy and Matthew didn't know each other that well. Actually, they didn't know each other at all. Although SAY WHAT YOU WILL is Cammie McGovern's first young adult novel, she knows precisely how to convey the roller coaster of emotions that young people experience today; especially those that suffer with mental illnesses and disorders that make controlling one’s body nearly, if not entirely, impossible. Matthew's internal battle with obsessive compulsive disorder is frighteningly real, as is Amy's agonizing attempts to make her first real friends when no one sticks around long enough to hear what she has to say. The topics at hand are not easy by any means, yet McGovern writes with such effortless fluidity that one might think she'd gone through every single situation herself. 

With summer just around the corner and a long list of books to choose from, SAY WHAT YOU WILL should be at the very top. It is not one to miss.
