Drunk on Love
Jasmine Guillory recently wrapped up the six-book series of interconnected romance novels that launched her career (starting with THE WEDDING DATE) after giving virtually all of her characters their very own happily ever after. Now, with DRUNK ON LOVE, Guillory is launching a new series with an intoxicating setting: the vineyards of California’s Napa Valley.
After getting her MBA and spending years as a marketing executive, Margot Noble is getting back to her roots, running the public-facing and business aspects of the vineyard that her late uncle founded and left to her and her brother, Elliot, a talented vintner. No matter how good she is at the business side of things, Margot keeps second-guessing herself. She’s worried that her taciturn brother disapproves of the way she’s managing the vineyard and tasting room, especially her plans to host Noble Vineyard’s first-ever public party, celebrating its 25th anniversary.
"DRUNK ON LOVE is a promising series launch that could be described using adjectives that might also classify wine: bold, spicy and juicy, to name a few."
Regardless of whether or not Elliot approves of Uncle Stan’s decision to leave the vineyard to the siblings equally rather than only to him, Margot is determined to throw herself into her work. In fact, she spends almost all of her free time either working or thinking about work. That’s why it’s such a release to take a chance on a one-night stand with a handsome stranger who walks into the restaurant and bar owned by her best friend.
Margot and Luke Williams have an amazing, unforgettable night together, but her jaw practically hits the floor the next morning when Elliot introduces her to the new tasting room employee he hired without giving her a chance to interview him. Of course, it’s none other than Luke himself. Obviously their flirtation can’t continue now that Margot is Luke’s boss, but that doesn’t mean she can just turn off her attraction to him, especially as she gets to know him better.
After abruptly leaving a Silicon Valley tech job he hated, Luke has come back to his hometown of Napa to support his best friend in the wake of a bad breakup. He plans to get a fun short-term job as he figures out what’s next for him. He doesn’t expect to fall quite so hard for Margot or to continue lying to his mom about his actual professional and relationship situations.
DRUNK ON LOVE is a promising series launch that could be described using adjectives that might also classify wine: bold, spicy and juicy, to name a few. The Napa Valley setting might inspire readers to plan a long weekend getaway --- and as usual, Guillory’s novel is full of mouthwatering descriptions of food. The abundance of well-developed, intriguing secondary characters also bodes well for a new series of happily ever afters. Readers will be eager to make a return trip to wine country as soon as possible.
