We have the last week of school coming up. I cannot wait for Thursday. I think I am more excited than my boys about this. I look forward to no conversations about homework, lunch, lunch money and things to be signed in backpacks. I am trying not to think about their summer reading lists for the moment!

Daniel Judson, author of the award-winning THE BONE ORCHARD and THE POISONED ROSE, has released THE DARKEST PLACE, his first book in four years. I am writing from Toronto where I am speaking at the Book Expo Canada conference today. It's a very quick trip where I am not seeing much more than the CN Tower out the window of my hotel and the swimming pool at the health club (which is one of my favorites). At this conference I look forward to hearing more about what is happening with books and readers in Canada.

Last night I went to a signing for a book I am excited to share with you --- THRILLER: Stories to Keep You Up All Night. It has 30 original short stories from 32 members of the International Thriller Writers and is edited by James Patterson. I have been reading this one over the past few weeks and am loving it. Many of the writers have used characters or plotlines from their previous work and incorporated them into these original stories. I found that as I read writers I had not previously known, I was drawn to want to read more of their work.
