The Cost of Courage by Charles Kaiser - History/Biography

In the fall of 1943, André Boulloche became de Gaulle’s military delegate in Paris, coordinating all the Resistance movements in the nine northern regions of France only to be betrayed by one of his associates, arrested, wounded by the Gestapo, and taken prisoner. His parents and oldest brother were arrested and shipped off on the last train from Paris to Germany before the liberation, and died in the camps. This is the first time the Boulloche family has cooperated with an author to recount their extraordinary ordeal.

Detained by Don Brown - Fiction

Hasan Makari and his son, Najib, both Lebanese nationals, have dreamed of the day they would experience the shining freedom of America. But when they arrive in the US, they are arrested, accused of terrorism, and incarcerated at the Guantánamo Bay Prison Camp in Cuba, all on false charges. Suddenly, they face the nightmare of death by execution. Their only hope is Navy JAG Officer Matt Davis, who has been assigned to the case of his life --- to defend the Makaris in court at Guantánamo Bay.

Devil's Harbor by Alex Gilly - Thriller

One night, Nick Finn and his partner and brother-in-law, Diego Jimenez, track a phantom boat off the Los Angeles coast, but it disappears before they can intercept it. They find a dead body in its wake, ravaged by sharks. Their investigation into the floater stalls when Finn is accused of using excessive force following the death of a suspected drug smuggler. Then Diego is murdered --- and Finn is the number-one suspect. As he races to find the real killer, Finn must smuggle narcotics by sea into the United States…and avoid the net that his colleagues have cast for him.

Jack of Spies by David Downing - Historical Thriller

Jack McColl has always hoped to make a job for himself as a spy. As his sales calls take him from city to great city, he moonlights collecting intelligence for His Majesty's Navy. With a geopolitical catastrophe brewing, he soon realizes what his aspirations may cost him. Meanwhile, an American suffragette journalist has wiled her way deep into his affections, and it’s not long before he realizes that her family might be embroiled in the Irish Republican movement his bosses are fighting against.

Losing Faith by Adam Mitzner - Legal Thriller

Aaron Littman is the premier lawyer of his generation and the chairman of Cromwell Altman, the most powerful law firm in New York City, when a high-profile new client threatens all that he’s achieved --- and more. Nicolai Garkov is accused of laundering funds for the Russian Mafia and financing a terrorist bombing in Red Square. He admits his guilt to Aaron but has a plan for exoneration that includes blackmailing the presiding judge, the Honorable Faith Nichols. If the judge won’t do his bidding, Garkov promises to go public with irrefutable evidence of an affair between Aaron and Faith.

Radiant Angel: A John Corey Novel by Nelson DeMille - Thriller/Adventure

After a showdown with the notorious Yemeni terrorist known as The Panther, John Corey has left the Anti-Terrorist Task Force and returned home to New York City, taking a job with the Diplomatic Surveillance Group. Although Corey's new assignment with the DSG --- surveilling Russian diplomats working at the U.N. Mission --- is thought to be "a quiet end," he is more than happy to be out from under the thumb of the FBI and free from the bureaucracy of office life. But Corey realizes something the U.S. government doesn't: the all-too-real threat of a newly resurgent Russia.

When the Balls Drop: How I Learned to Get Real and Embrace Life's Second Half by Brad Garrett - Humor/Essays

In this no-holds-barred book of comedic and personal essays, "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Brad Garrett waxes hilarious --- and irreverently honest --- about the gaffes, challenges and ultimately the joys of middle age as he advises us on how to best approach the dreaded “second half” of life. Ranging in topics from genetics to genitals, weight to women, and dating to diarrhea, Brad leaves no stone unturned in this laugh-out-loud look at getting older.

Windigo Island by William Kent Krueger - Mystery

When the body of a teenage Ojibwe girl washes up on the shore of an island in Lake Superior, the residents of the nearby Bad Bluff reservation whisper that it was the work of a mythical beast, the Windigo, or a vengeful spirit called Michi Peshu. Such stories have been told by the Ojibwe people for generations, but they don’t solve the mystery of how the girl and her friend, Mariah Arceneaux, disappeared a year ago. At the request of the Arceneaux family, Cork O’Connor, former sheriff turned private investigator, is soon on the case.
