Kinsey has a fetish. She is turned on by viruses. They send her into rapturous spirals, consuming her thoughts and desires.

This unique protagonist lives in a small research facility in the desert with five others who have been tasked with identifying and cataloguing all the living things they find in the seemingly barren landscape. The assignment is rather routine until one day Domino comes across a strange coyote-like creature that has six legs buried in the sand. Like good scientists, they haul it into their lab to be observed and studied.

"Sarah Gailey examines the idea of a virus taking over mankind from a completely different perspective and is unlike any book that I have ever read."

What happens next takes everyone by surprise. The creature is carrying a heretofore unknown virus. When it comes into contact with the crew, they all get infected with it --- everyone, that is, except Kinsey. The initial symptoms are a fever and a rash. The virus then has the ability to completely overtake the person’s body and change it into a copy of itself, but one that looks and acts almost human.

When two members of the crew succumb to the virus, the others realize that they must do something to prevent its spread. Because of her fetish, Kinsey is uncontrollably attracted to the virus and believes it wants to consume her. If she consents, what happens next? Is humanity doomed?

In SPREAD ME, Sarah Gailey examines the idea of a virus taking over mankind from a completely different perspective and is unlike any book that I have ever read. The story is part sci-fi, part romance, part erotica and part thriller. The characters are an interesting mix of genders and personalities, and the premise is a titillating one. I will not forget this fast-paced novel any time soon.
