Sandra Van Doorn was born somewhere in France, where she studied Business & Marketing before going on to explore the world and doing further studies in photography and art.
 
She now works on what she loves most - inventing and illustrating stories - using coloured pencils, pastels, and whatever else is around. She loves too many things to list them all but most importantly she can make magic soup, she believes love grows on trees, she knows who lights the stars at night - and sometimes she uses her magic powers to clean her house.
 
She lives in Vancouver, Canada with her husband Edward, her blue bicycle and her invisible dog. Paper Hearts is her first picture book.
