Biography

Rocki St. Claire

Roxanne St.
Claire's first novel, TROPICAL GETAWAY, was published by Simon
& Schuster's Pocket Books in February 2003. In 2004, four more
novels will be released, starting with another romantic suspense in
February, FRENCH TWIST. In addition to writing suspense for Pocket
Books, Roxanne will release two contemporary romance novels for
Silhouette Desire. Roxanne's first "Chick Lit", HIT REPLY, a
lighthearted look at life's most serious challenges, is scheduled
for November, 2004 written under the name Rocki St. Claire.

After graduating with a degree in mass communications from UCLA,
Roxanne appeared on the sitcoms Laverne and Shirley and Bosom
Buddies and hosted a talk show called Between the Piers. After it
became evident she didn't have a future as Loni Anderson or Jane
Pauley, Roxanne discovered the world of public relations and
immediately found her niche. By day, she promoted products and
people; but at night…she read and scribbled tales of love and
adventure.

Roxanne relocated to Boston in the mid-eighties and took an
executive position with Hill and Knowlton, one of the world's
largest public relations agencies. During those years, and as a
communications consultant after her first child was born in 1993,
Roxanne's clients included Fortune 500 companies such as Burger
King Corporation, IBM and Arthur Andersen as well as start ups and
celebrities. Her eighteen-year career in marketing did more than
feed a habit for fabulous shoes and costly trips to the bookstore.
She also gained a host of experiences to draw upon for that day
when she finally closed her PR business and began to write the
romance novels she has read and loved for years.

After leaving Boston, Roxanne and her husband lived for five years
in Miami, Florida, where they endured the unique experience of
losing their home and everything in it to Hurricane Andrew in
August 1992. While they were unharmed, the storm had a profound
impact on their community and their lives, teaching life-altering
lessons about the importance of family and safety versus material
goods.

Roxanne's first manuscript won several national writing contests,
including the prestigious San Francisco Area Romance Writers Heart
to Heart 2000 for best contemporary novel; the Toronto Romance
Writer's contest for best Single Title/Mainstream novel; and the
Gateway Award for best contemporary novel. Her second novel was
inspired by a maritime disaster and Roxanne's role as a media and
damage control expert for the company involved. That manuscript
sold in January 2002, two years after she retired from PR to launch
a writing career.

Roxanne lives in Florida with her husband and their two children.
When not reading, writing or researching a book, Roxanne takes
advantage of life on the water and in the tropics. She can often be
found at the beach, at the baseball field cheering her son's Little
League team, or watching her daughter shake her pom-poms on the pep
squad. Her husband of fourteen years, a retired IBM executive, is a
world-class cook and baseball coach.
