Phyllis Rowand was the author and illustrator of several books for children, including BEARS, GEORGE, and the first edition of IT IT NIGHT (originally published in 1953); as well as the illustrator of books by other authors, including THE GROWING STORY, by Ruth Krauss. She lived with her family in Rowayton, Connecticut.
