Patrick Ness
Patrick Ness was born on an army base called Fort Belvoir, near Alexandria, Virginia. He stayed there for the first four months of my life and has never even been back to the East Coast of America since.
He studied English Literature at the University of Southern California, and got a job as a corporate writer at a cable company in Los Angeles, writing manuals and speeches and once even an advertisement for the Gilroy, California Garlic Festival. His first story was published in Genre magazine in 1997. Ness moved to London in 1999 while working on his first novel. He taught Creative Writing at Oxford University for three years and now writes for one of the UK national papers. He has also been writer in residence for Booktrust.
