Matt Collins
Biography
Matt Collins
Cranky chickens, timid hippos and confused world leaders are only a few of the creatures that populate the world of Matt Collins Illustration. Matt uses this motley cast to create startling juxtapositions that surprise and intrigue the viewer.
After growing up in Ohio, Matt went on to university in St. Louis, MO, where he earned his BFA. His career started in advertising, first in St. Louis and then in Manhattan. The main benefit of starting out as an Art Director in advertising is that he learned to generate many different solutions for any project he was assigned to. His current clients benefit from that approach to problem solving when they see the wide range of choices Matt gives them for solutions to their particular project.
He finally arrived in the woods of Connecticut, where he set up shop as an Illustrator. He still lives there with his wife and daughter. The hippos, chickens, goats, charlatans, elephants, donkeys and poseurs of all sorts remain mostly in Matt’s office, helping him produce award-winning images for newspapers, magazines and children’s books.
