Lori Nichols was born in Pennsylvania surrounded by maple trees and moss. For years she has looked to nature and her family for for much of her inspiration. As a child she looked at everything from acorns to frogs and marveled. Nichols's three girls have reminded her of those days, and she finds herself building on their own perceptions, ideas and drawings. Her creations manifest themselves in illustrations, stories, soft-sculptures and, in the spring, overflow from her studio into her garden.

 

Nichols has been awarded 1st runner up for the SCBWI New York winter conference portfolio showcase two years in a row (2012 and 2013).
