Biography
John Bemelmans Marciano
John Marciano grew up on a horse farm in Three Bridges, New Jersey. He is the youngest of three grandsons of the legendary Ludwig Bemelmans, creator of the Madeline books. John graduated from Columbia University, and has followed in his grandfather's footsteps as a writer and artist.
He is the author of four Madeline books: MADELINE SAYS MERCI; MADELINE LOVES ANIMALS; MADELINE AND THE CATS OF ROME; and MADELINE AT THE WHITE HOUSE. He is also the author of three books for adults: BEMELMANS: The Life and Art of Madeline's Creator; ANONYPONYMOUS: The Forgotten People Behind Everyday Words; and TOPONYMITY: An Atlas of Words.
John and his wife, Andromache, a set designer, live in Brooklyn with their daughter, Galatea.
