Johanna Reiss grew up in Holland. Her children’s book, THE UPSTAIRS ROOM, a Newbery Honor Book, and its sequel, THE JOURNEY BACK, focus on her life in hiding as a Jewish child during World War II, and the first year after the Holocaust. Mrs. Reiss lives in New York City.
