Jody Dean
Jody Dean is a 30-year veteran in broadcast journalism with an enviable collection of some of the industry's most prestigious awards including an Emmy and two Dallas Press Club Katies. Included among his lengthy list of honors are 10 nominations for the coveted Katie, and similar nominations and awards from The Texas Associated Press and American Women in Radio and Television. He was named "Best Talk Show Host" by the Dallas Business Journal and has interviewed renowned authors, political leaders and heads of state.
A lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas, Jody (at 6'4" and 190 lbs.) played tackle and defensive end for Pascal High School and went on to attend Abilene Christian College. Not knowing what to choose when asked to declare a major, Jody remembered listening to radio disc jockey legend Ron Chapman of Dallas's KVIL-FM and decided that was the way to go. He landed a job at the campus radio station and then at another station in town. After working at three different stations over the next two years, Jody signed on at KLIF-FM in Dallas. He eventually became a full-time deejay at KVIL, and within five years, he was the producer for Ron Chapman's morning show.
By 1991, Jody was the executive producer for the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network, and in 1994 he moved to KRLD, another Dallas/Ft. Worth radio station. During his eight years as morning news anchor on news radio 1080 KRLD in Dallas, he chronicled some of the most memorable and life-changing stories of this generation including the Oklahoma City bombing and the Wichita Falls tornado. He continues to tell the stories that must be told, as an anchor on the CBS affiliate station in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Channel 11.
Jody Dean is an avid student of scripture and is very involved in his church. He is a gourmet cook and enjoys spending time with his boys, Nolan, 16, and Forrest, 12. He loves gardening, deep-sea fishing and baseball.
