Jeannine Atkins wrote FINDING WONDERS: THREE GIRLS WHO CHANGED SCIENCE, for readers 10-up, and STONE MIRRORS: THE SCULPTURE AND SILENCE OF EDMONIA LEWIS. She's the author other books about courageous girls and women, including BORROWED NAMES: POEMS ABOUT LAURA INGALLS WILDER, MADAM C. J. WALKER, MARIE CURIE AND THEIR DAUGHTERS and LITTLE WOMAN IN BLUE: A NOVEL OF MAY ALCOTT. She teaches Children's Literature at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and writing at Simmons College.
