Ellen Mahoney
Ellen Mahoney is a writer and educator. She is the author of NELLIE BLY and INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM FOR KIDS, published May 2015 by Chicago Review Press. Her upcoming book, GANDHI FOR KIDS, will be published in the fall of 2016 by Chicago Review Press. In addition, Ellen is co-author of EARTHRISE: My Adventures As an Apollo 14 Astronaut, penned by the late Edgar Mitchell and also published by Chicago Review Press (April 2014). Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Human Development from Syracuse University, and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Southern California. She is an affiliate faculty professor in the Department of Journalism & Technical Communication at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Ellen also taught writing at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and through the Boulder Valley School District Lifelong Learning program. She has published articles in a wide range of publications including: YES! Magazine, the Daily Camera, Boulder Weekly, Longmont Times Call, Longmont Ledger, and the Edible Front Range magazine. Ellen Mahoney has produced radio pieces for the BBC World Service “Science in Action” and “Health Check” shows, KRCC Radio Colorado College, and the KGNU Community Radio “Eat Your Radio” series. Early in her career she was a staff writer/Imagineer for the Walt Disney Company.
