Edward Eager
A well-known lyricist and playwright, Edward Eager grew up in Toledo, Ohio and attended Harvard Univeristy. He was a childhood fan of L. Frank Baum's OZ series and started writing children's books when he couldn't find stories he wanted to read to hiw own son. He often acknowledges and references the work of E. Nesbit, whom he thought of as the best children's author of all times. Eager died on October 23, 1964 at the age of fifty-three.
