Bret Baier currently serves as Chief Political Anchor of FOX News Channel and Anchor and Executive Editor of “Special Report with Bret Baier,” the top-rated cable news program in its timeslot.
Bret Baier joined the FOX News Channel early on as the first reporter in the Atlanta bureau. On September 11, 2001 he was assigned to the Pentagon to cover the terrorist attacks and has been in Washington, D.C. ever since.
During his time in Washington, Bret has covered the Pentagon, the White House and various other beats. Throughout his tenure at the network, Bret has had the privilege of interviewing President Barack Obama, former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and has secured numerous other exclusive interviews with government and cabinet officials.
Baier serves as the face of the networks political coverage, co-anchoring numerous debates throughout the 2012 and 2016 campaign seasons. In 2016 Baier interviewed all of the Republican presidential candidates for Special Report and in addition held a townhall with Democratic nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders. He continues to provide extensive political coverage for FOX News Channel.
Baier graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English. An avid golfer, Bret spends his spare time on the links and with his wife, Amy, and their two young sons, Paul and Daniel. Paul Baier was born with five congenital heart defects and has undergone numerous procedures, including three open-heart surgeries.
