Andrea Cheng
Andrea Cheng is the author of several children’s books, including HONEYSUCKLE HOUSE, WHERE THE STEPS WERE, THE BEAR MAKERS and BRUSHING MOM'S HAIR. She teaches English as a Second Language at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. She lives in Ohio with her family.
The child of Hungarian immigrants, she was raised in inner city Cincinnati, Ohio in an extended family with three generations under one roof.
After graduating with a BA in English from Cornell University, Andrea went to Switzerland, where she learned French, taught English and apprenticed to a bookbinder. Upon her return, she went back to Cornell to study Chinese and got an MS in linguistics.
She is married to Jim Cheng and has three children, Nicholas, Jane and Ann.
