Amanda Lindhout is the founder of the Global Enrichment Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports development, aid, and education initiatives in Somalia and Kenya. She was kidnapped by Somalian insurgents in 2008 while posted there as a journalist and was held for fifteen months. After her release, she began a philanthropic career.
