Worst Fears
Ned and Alexandra Ludd are the toast of London's theater set. A
stunning actress, Alexandra stars in a steamy production of The
Doll's House, while her husband, a struggling critic, stays home
and cares for their young son. When Ned dies of a sudden heart
attack, Alexandra is devastated. Mindless with grief, she fails to
notice that Ned died in their bed, but he wasn't alone.
When Jenny, Ned's infuriating and dowdy mistress begins to harass
Alexandra day and night, she must confront her worst fears ---- Ned
cheated on her repeatedly and their happy marriage was just a sham.
Eventually, she learns that her family and friends lied to her for
their own selfish reasons.
Alexandra struggles to put her life together after discovering
Ned's adulterous behavior, but when Jenny threatens to take her
home and savings away, Alexandra fights back with a brilliant
plan.
This is one of Fay Weldon's most intense and compelling books about
men, women, jealousy and adultery. It is deliciously disturbing and
will leave you wondering about your own relationships.
