William and Catherine: Their Story

On April 29, 2011, an estimated three billion people worldwide gathered in front of their television sets to watch the fairy-tale wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton as they walked down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in London, England. In the midst of economic woes, job loss and personal crises, we couldn't get enough of this romantic tale that transported us out of our own problems for a day and into a world of wealth and privilege.

"WILLIAM & CATHERINE gives fans and admirers a chance to relive the pomp and circumstance of the royal wedding day..."

WILLIAM & CATHERINE gives fans and admirers a chance to relive the pomp and circumstance of the royal wedding day and explore the relationship of William and Catherine that began when they met as students at the University of St. Andrew's in Scotland.

The book doesn't start there, though. Instead, we're given a glimpse into William’s and Catherine’s childhoods. While many of us are already familiar with the high points of William's early years from media reports and books, relatively few of us knew anything about Kate's background and family life before she took her place in the spotlight. A chapter devoted to her, “Catherine’s Heritage,” gives us an interesting and well-rounded picture of the future Queen of England.

Andrew Morton also examines their breakup in 2007. While many may have thought it was the end of the relationship, an eventual reconciliation took place. The couple was back on firm footing and eventually headed to the altar. The chapter "The Road to the Abbey" gives us an inside picture of everything from the engagement to the planning of the wedding. A special section called "Royal Weddings 1840-1986” gives us the dates and details of the royal weddings for those years and includes photos of famous royal couples from the past.

Last but not least, "The Wedding Day" offers a sentimental look at the awe-inspiring moments and allows us to review the events of the big day and the fond memories associated with it. Not to be left out, even in death, Princess Diana makes several appearances, both in full-color photographs and in the narrative. Touching mother and son moments and nostalgic memories are sprinkled throughout the pages.

Morton, author of DIANA: HER TRUE STORY and DIANA: HER NEW LIFE, has done a marvelous job chronicling this special relationship and unique love story. The photos of intimate moments, childhood events and family interaction, as well as a detailed family tree of both William and Catherine, combine with a heartfelt tale of a royal and a commoner who found love with one another in the midst of the public eye. WILLIAM & CATHERINE is a book that you’ll treasure and always want to keep in a prominent place on your bookshelf.
