Who's Looking Out for You?
"Bill O'Reilly's mad as hell and he's not going to let you take it
anymore." So says the flyleaf of his latest book, WHO'S LOOKING OUT
FOR YOU? While there is a certain profile that O'Reilly's viewers,
listeners and readers may fit, the commonalities may not be what
one expects. Indeed, his fans span not only the political spectrum
but the ethnic, financial, and educational continuum as well.
WHO'S LOOKING OUT FOR YOU? is like a big thank-you note to all the
people who have helped make Bill O'Reilly a household name.
O'Reilly contends that survival today depends on your ability to
determine who is looking out for you. Acting on a false premise
here can and does lead to certain disaster. For example, acting on
the belief that governments, the media, Hollywood activists, or
religious groups are looking out for you will land you in problems
quicker than you can say, "I'm entitled." These consequences of
misplaced trust and poor choices are ones that O'Reilly points out
daily on his TV and radio programs. Now he offers some
solutions.
His book demonstrates that change requires honesty and action.
Merely acknowledging there are problems does not solve them.
"Problems will hunt you down, slap you around, and leave you
disillusioned and sometimes broke. That is, unless you meet them at
the door and knee them in the groin." And, in his inimitable way,
O'Reilly gives you a cram course in this practical form of
self-defense. Because, in the long run, there are few who can be
trusted to look out for you if you don't learn how to look out for
yourself.
However O'Reilly goes beyond simply offering advice; he allows the
reader a peek into his own life to better understand that his ideas
were not developed in a vacuum, but born of experience. Unlike
other books of this type, WHO'S LOOKING OUT FOR YOU? is not
heavy-handed or laden with burdensome minutiae. Like his popular TV
show The O'Reilly Factor, it is smart, snappy and often
sassy --- a fast read of 212 pages, full of surprises that defy
stereotyping.
