The Southern Belles of Honeysuckle Way
Review
The Southern Belles of Honeysuckle Way
Rebecca and Carleen Raye are two sisters who are leaving behind
their lives in California, and their mother Lila Mae, to return to
their roots in Kentucky. Rebecca and Carleen, along with their two
teenage daughters, fondly referred to as "the two Lolitas," are
making a cross country journey, and anything goes.
When they arrive in Kentucky, they join their grandmother Olive and
their sister Irene Gaye, who had previously fled the West Coast and
her fifth husband, only to take refuge in her home state.
The three sisters come together in this novel to meet a variety of
challenges in their lives, one of which is saving their
grandmother's four hundred acre farm from land developer CASTLECO
and gaining possession of Rosemont, "a stately three story Greek
Revival home" that was "built in the early nineteenth
century."
Through their trials and tribulations, tears and laughter, the
sisters make discoveries about themselves, each other and life in
general.
This novel overflows with a variety of idiosyncratic characters and
southern peculiarities. Those who hail from the south will
recognize similarities between themselves and others in these
pages.
In THE SOUTHERN BELLES OF HONEYSUCKLE WAY, author Linda Bruckheimer
continues the tradition of writing about Southern life that she
began with her first novel, DREAMING SOUTHERN. Bruckheimer is the
wife of film producer Jerry Bruckheimer and spends her time between
her farm in rural Kentucky and Los Angeles, California.
