The Perfect Divorce

The Perfect Divorce
It has been just five years since the publication of the multimillion-copy bestselling novel, THE PERFECT MARRIAGE. But in the sequel, THE PERFECT DIVORCE, 11 years have passed.
In the first book, Jeneva Rose introduced an incredibly unique legal situation. Attorney Sarah Morgan was called upon to handle the most stressful and unexpected case of her life. Her then-husband, Adam, was accused of murdering his mistress, Kelly Summers. The novel opens with the transcript excerpt of a television interview that Adam did eight years earlier. It is chilling how he proclaimed his innocence, even after Sarah was unable to keep him from conviction and the death penalty.
"THE PERFECT DIVORCE continues the winning streak that Jeneva Rose has been on, and she even hints in the Acknowledgements that Sarah Morgan’s story isn’t over yet. I cannot wait to see what happens next!"
Now, in the present day, history seems to be repeating itself in a dark and even more surprising way. Adam already has been put to death by lethal injection, and Sarah has moved on with her life. She falls in love with Bob Miller, an attorney at the firm that she heads. They soon marry and have a daughter, Summer, whom they adore. The subject of Summer is the basis for the first interaction we see between Sarah and Bob in this novel, but not in the way you might expect. They are at opposite sides of a conference room table discussing the terms of their divorce and, among other things, who will maintain custody of their daughter.
Bob had a drunken one-night stand with Stacy Howard. Having already been badly burned once before in this same fashion, Sarah does not waste any time putting forth divorce proceedings. In addition to wanting to keep Summer away from Bob, she would like him to step down from his position in the law firm and the Morgan Foundation, where he sits on the board. Bob is not willing to do any of this and has promised to make Sarah sorry she ever messed with him.
The past intersects with Sarah’s present in yet another unexpected way. Former Sheriff Ryan Stevens calls upon her to represent him when he is arrested by the new sheriff, Marcus Hudson, for DUI and hitting and severely injuring a pedestrian. This is quite ironic for Sarah as Stevens had overseen the case against her late husband. Stevens is told by Sarah that he does not have much of a chance, and he tries to hang himself in his cell. She drops the case immediately, and Stevens subsequently succumbs to his self-sustained injuries while in the hospital. What becomes known after his death will cause Sarah to receive pressure to reopen the investigation involving Adam when it appears that Stevens mishandled the Kelly Summers case in many ways.
Sarah must juggle all of this while doing her job, running her foundation, and dealing with her divorce from Bob. When Stacy suddenly goes missing, naturally he becomes the primary suspect. However, Sheriff Hudson and his department have no solid proof of his involvement, and Bob later stirs things up by claiming that Sarah has done all of this to make him look bad. He even accuses her of paying Stacy to seduce him in some sort of a massive setup.
Readers will find their heads spinning trying to keep up with all of the various plot twists involving these two cases. You may even question the motives of Sarah, which makes for a delightful mélange of complexity straight through to the diabolically good ending.
THE PERFECT DIVORCE continues the winning streak that Jeneva Rose has been on, and she even hints in the Acknowledgements that Sarah Morgan’s story isn’t over yet. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
