The Paradise Prophecy

Bernadette Callahan and Sebastian “Batty” LaLaurie are damaged souls. Callahan is a by-the-book government agent and trained killer mysteriously dispatched to Brazil to investigate the bizarre death of a popular singer, a former addict who has turned her life around and dedicated herself to God. The circumstances of her passing, along with a hidden message found near the body, trigger memories of the death of Callahan’s father. Troubled by insomnia and experiencing vivid hallucinations, Callahan begins to question her grip on reality.

"Browne has written a compelling page-turner, which kept me reading into the wee hours of the night while glancing over my shoulder looking for evil lurking in the shadows. This is a raise-the-hair-on-the back-of-your-neck, frighteningly good story."

Meanwhile, back in the United States, Batty is plagued by his “gift” of second sight and haunted by the horrific death of his beloved wife. While drowning his sorrows in alcohol, he works as a religious historian teaching John Milton’s Paradise Lost at a backwater college in Louisiana. In Paradise Lost --- which the 17th-century poet claimed was divinely inspired --- God casts Satan and his lieutenants into Hell. The fallen angels exact revenge in the Garden of Eden, causing mankind to continually struggle between sin and salvation.

According to legend, the Codex Gigas, or, as it is better known, The Devil’s Bible, was created and handwritten by a Benedictine monk after making a pact with the Devil. Yet, of these, seven pages that are rumored to contain the secret of one of God’s greatest creations are missing. If they fall into the wrong hands, pandemonium will ensue.

Together, Callahan and Batty travel the world to discover the meaning of the hidden message and the ancient texts. As time runs out, they are assisted in their quest by members of a secret society battling to protect the innocent. Their journey leads them to the missing pages and the key to a sacred traveler. They also encounter dark angels, demons, drudges and sycophants who wander the earth, tempting humans with sex, drugs, greed and power --- vying for souls and the ruination of all that is good.

THE PARADISE PROPHECY, written by award-winning screenwriter Robert Browne, is an intelligent and imaginative supernatural thriller. As the end time draws near, the danger, violence and bloodletting escalate, and in the battle between good and evil, man must choose between acting for the greater good or committing the ultimate sin. Except for the drawn-out battle scenes in the last few chapters, Browne has written a compelling page-turner, which kept me reading into the wee hours of the night while glancing over my shoulder looking for evil lurking in the shadows. This is a raise-the-hair-on-the back-of-your-neck, frighteningly good story.
