The Job: A Fox and O'Hare Novel

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is called upon to help catch an art bandit who mirrors her undercover, felonious sidekick, Nicolas Fox, in a $5 million broad daylight heist of a Matisse from a private museum in Nashville. From all appearances, the thief is Nick, right down to the MO of the theft and a flash shot of his face in a hoodie as he exits the crime scene. Kate’s FBI bosses are furious that Nick is back to his old tricks while working on a release program to assist them in uncovering some of the world’s most infamous criminals.

Kate is not so quick to jump to conclusions when she hears that Nick has been caught on camera. He’s much too canny to let that happen, so she pursues it with a copycat in mind, although it has to be a darned good copycat to walk boldly out of the Nashville museum with the Matisse tucked under his arm. When Nick calls her right after the robbery, he declares his innocence. But since Kate never knows for sure when to believe him, he has some explaining to do.

"THE JOB is a speedy, fun-filled read that will please [Evanovich's] legion of fans."

When another bold robbery takes place in Istanbul with the same MO while Kate is meeting with Nick --- the same sly peek of Nick’s face on a surveillance camera, and the added sure evidence of his fingerprints on the glass case holding the priceless artifact --- they know they’re up against a master burglar. Nick thinks he knows who it is, so the pair launch a hunt to find out why someone is impersonating him.

When they discover that the burglar, a protégé of Nick, is snatching the priceless art and artifacts for an infamous drug smuggler, THE JOB finds the duo jetting from Istanbul to Lisbon to a yacht in the middle of the Thames in London in an action-packed, sexy chase.  Kate’s father, a retired CIA operative, and some of his colorful but aging pals are enlisted to help carry off a heist to end all heists in order to trap the treacherous drug lord, Menendez, who rates high on the FBI’S Most Wanted list. With the help of a special effects video game producer, they stage an underwater salvage of a long-lost Portuguese ship loaded with priceless gold that’s been missing for centuries.

Kate is held hostage under the eye of Menendez’s psychopathic partner, while Nick and Kate’s father and cronies set the stage to trap the ruthless drug lord.
