Indies Choice Award 2009

The American Booksellers Association (ABA) Indies Choice Book Awards recognize the array of unique and thought-provoking titles championed by independent bookstores nationwide. In addition to the winners, 5 honor books and authors are selected for each of the six categories.

PEN/Faulkner Awards 2009

Established by National Book Award winner Mary Lee Settle, the PEN/Faulkner Foundation has been recognizing titles that embody literary excellence since 1981.  Previous winners include the likes of Philip Roth, John Updike, Ann Patchett, Sherman Alexie and Joseph O'Neill. Pulitzer Prize Winners in Letters and Drama 2011

On April 18th, the winners of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize were announced at Columbia University in New York. From more than 2,500 entries, 21 recipients were selected by 102 distinguished jurors. These winners will be honored at a luncheon to be held in May at Columbia's Low Library.

Los Angeles Times Book Prize 2010

On April 29, 2011, the Los Angeles Times launched its weekend-long celebration of literature, authors, reading and community at the 31st Annual Book Prizes ceremony. Held at the Times' Chandler Auditorium and hosted by Book Critic David L. Ulin, the event honored the extraordinary literary accomplishments of 2010, in 12 categories.

On April 12th, the winners of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize were announced at Columbia University in New York, NY. 21 recipients were selected from over 2,500 entries by a distinguished panel of 102 jurors, and will be honored at a luncheon to be held on luncheon on May 24th.

Los Angeles Times Book Prize 2009

On April 23rd 2010, The Los Angeles Times announced the winners of its 30th Annual Book Prizes at a ceremony that kicked off the publication’s 2010 Festival of Books --- the country’s largest public literary festival. Established in 1980, the Prizes honor extraordinary authors and their works in 12 categories, including the first-ever Graphic Novel genre.

On April 20, the winners of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize were announced at Columbia University in New York. The recipients were selected from over 2,400 entries by 102 jurors, and will be awarded a $10,000 prize and certificate at a luncheon to be held on May 28th at Columbia's Low Library.

Los Angeles Times Book Prize 2008

On April 24th, 2009 the winners of the 29th Annual Los Angeles Times Book Prize were announced at a ceremony held during the L. A. Times Festival of Books. The Prize was established in 1980 and includes a $1,000 cash award.

The Nobel Prize for Literature 2009

Since 1901, the Nobel Prize for Literature has annually honored writers who have produced "the most outstanding work in an ideal direction," in genres ranging from poetry, novels and short stories, to essays, speeches and plays. On October 8, 2009, the Swedish Academy awarded their 102nd prize to German author Herta Müller "who, with the concentration of poetry and the frankness of prose, depicts the landscape of the dispossessed"

The Nobel Prize for Literature 2010

Since 1901, the Nobel Prize for Literature has annually honored writers who have produced "the most outstanding work in an ideal direction," in genres ranging from poetry, novels and short stories, to essays, speeches and plays. On October 7, 2010, the Swedish Academy awarded their 103rd prize to Peruvian novelist, playwright and essayist Mario Vargas Llosa, making him the first Latin American writer to win the award since Gabriel García Márquez received it in 1982.
