The Devil's Triangle: A Brit in the FBI Thriller
THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE is the fourth book in Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison’s Brit in the FBI series, which stars FBI Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela (Mike) Caine. Also featured are fellow agents Lacey Sherlock and her husband, Dillon Savich, from Coulter’s original FBI thriller series, though they are kept in the background in these novels.
In this installment, Drummond and Caine are given new assignments with the FBI Covert Eyes team, whose members work on international crimes. Kitsune, a well-known thief who has pulled off some spectacular heists, calls Drummond and asks for help. She informs him that she stole a priceless Biblical artifact from the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul for an unknown client. The heist was successful, but when she delivered the goods to a drop house, someone tried to kill her.
"The story has a strong plot with many subplots going at the same time. Chapters are generally short and filled with plenty of page-turning action."
Drummond and Kitsune have an interesting relationship. In a previous encounter, Kitsune saved Drummond's life. Even though she is a thief, Drummond feels obligated to help her because of their past history.
The Covert Eyes team is sent to Venice, Italy, to try to figure out who hired Kitsune and to recover the goods. In the process, they uncover a plot to put the world in danger through the harnessing of the weather. A hurricane of epic proportions is headed to Washington, DC. Can Drummond and Caine stop it before it's too late?
As usual, Coulter and Ellison mix fact with fiction. THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE explores the concept of being able to control the weather on a global, at-will basis, which is both intriguing and terrifying. The story has a strong plot with many subplots going at the same time. Chapters are generally short and filled with plenty of page-turning action.
However, not much backstory is provided to help readers figure out the characters' relationships if they are not already familiar with the series.
Still, I highly recommend THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE and look forward to seeing what these two talented authors cook up next.
