Sumomomo, Momomo, Vol. 10

Twelve clans of martial artists form the East and West armies, and they have been at a stalemate for many a year. Koushi Inuzuka, heir of the Dog Clan, was born to be the new Head of the Western Army, but he hates martial arts and has no talent for them. In spite of this, he is expected to wed Momoko Kuzuryu, heir to the Dragon Clan, in order to put an end to the war between the two sides.

The relationship between Koushi and Momoko is already tense as it is, but now Koushi is seeking to soothe his depression over the slow progress, if any, of his training by spending time with other girls, a source of dangerously high stress to Momoko. Still, nobody can rightly blame her—her fiancé spending time with other girls would bother any girl–and if that was all that was going on, it could smooth itself out in no time. Seemingly out of nowhere, Koushi up and leaves Momoko to go on a training journey to find his strength, which just may decide the fate of all martial arts clans.

But all the while, nine of the 12 clans are staging a coup d’etat–a plot to destroy the Dog and Dragon Clans, and all that stands against it are a small number of friends from within several clans who don’t agree with their families’ actions and intentions. It seems the only way to stop the war from coming is the power that lies dormant in Koushi, the power to render martial artists powerless, but in order to learn to use it, he has to train with quite possibly the most dangerous man he has ever met: Tenga Koganei, who nearly killed him the last time they met, and his tigers. Tigers—really?

With treacherous enemies around every proverbial corner, things seem bleak for the small circle of friends. This has proven to be an exciting manga with plenty of action, romantic tension, and lots of comedy. You don’t have to be a fan of all of these genres to love Sumomomo Momomo.
