Oathbringer: Book Three of the Stormlight Archive

In 2014, Brandon Sanderson dropped WORDS OF RADIANCE on eager readers. The second volume of his epic Stormlight Archive, it was a follow-up that was as good as, if not better than, the opening installment. Waiting about three-and-a-half years, fans have been curious to see if Sanderson can outdo himself again and hungry to see how things progress after the devastating conclusion to WORDS OF RADIANCE.

With OATHBRINGER, Sanderson doesn't even waste a breath before pummeling readers with superstorms that continually sweep across the world of Roshar. Shallan Davar finds herself losing her grip on reality as she is seduced by the power of her Lightweaver skills. The newly empowered Kaladin Stormblessed seeks to learn the plans of the Parshendi, awakened during the raging Everstorm, and connect with his parents. And Dalinar Kholin is challenged to overcome his legend and a brutal tyrant, and unite the world in peace.

"Suffice to say, Sanderson is more than capable of pulling off the story.... OATHBRINGER is a marvel and a successful addition to [his] Stormlight Archive."

Each book in the series thus far pushes the story of one character in particular, and in OATHBRINGER we dissect and explore the past of Dalinar. You see, Oathbringer is the name of the Shardblade he acquired in the early days. Now, Dalinar really has to begin an introspective examination of his past, understanding the man he was while still trying to determine his new path, and remaking himself into the man he wishes to become. This, of course, is interwoven into the startling arc of Shallan's tale and Kaladin's own quest.

Suffice to say, Sanderson is more than capable of pulling off the story. As with any of his works, he deftly deepens the world and enriches the immersive experience by rounding out characters, by explaining Roshar beautifully enough to make it seem real, and by the manner in which he handles the successes, failures and surprises that color the lives of our heroes.

OATHBRINGER is a marvel and a successful addition to Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive. Our heroes face ever-increasing challenges, and questions you've harbored through the first two installments are answered, but have no fear. You now have new ones to ponder and work over until volume four finds its way into your hands.
