In a bleak future, the United States does not exist. The Republic rules the western coast, and the Colonies exist in the east. Within the Republic, 15-year-olds Day and June come from vastly different worlds, yet they are more alike than they realize. Their paths cross after Day is accused of murdering June’s brother.
