Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive
Dubbed as one of the most influential black leaders in America today, T.D. Jakes is a communicator, entrepreneur, entertainment impresario, philanthropist and bestselling author. His newest book, INSTINCT, reveals how his “instinctiveness” has led him to success on a variety of fronts. It is his hope to communicate the path to that same success to his readers.
Jakes shares the story of the aha moments he experienced when he traveled on a safari with his family and how the larger-than-life wildlife that they encountered “instinctively” changed him. Even the cover of his new book sports a magnificent elephant right beside his photo. Jakes tells his readers that living by instinct is as natural as a lioness that stalks her prey. It’s knowing that you’re doing what you were born to do. In other words, sometimes there simply are no words to explain or describe how you know something to be true. You just know it.
"Readers will glean lots of emotional stamina to keep on going despite any discouragement and setbacks."
Unfortunately, not everyone will be on board with what you know to be right and true and your next step in life. Jakes also explains that, though folks can instinctively understand what they want to achieve, it will take lots of courage and even more stepping out into the unknown to get to where you want to be. He continues to remind readers that there’s a bigger (elephant-sized) life out there waiting to be claimed, lived and loved.
Much of this text is about getting there. Readers will glean lots of emotional stamina to keep on going despite any discouragement and setbacks. Specifically, Jakes discusses what instinct in action looks like; how to do instinct rather than extinct; getting an instinctive sense of direction; instincts turned inside out; instincts under pressure; instincts set the pace; instinctive investments; protection from predators; informed instincts; instinctive leadership; balancing intellect and instinct; instinctive relationships; juggling by instinct; instincts adapt; treetop instincts; and discovering all that is within you.
Throughout each personally revealing chapter, Jakes shares the ups and downs of his journey in life and how honing his instinct got him where he is today. He is also transparent about a few of the mistakes he made along the way, what he learned from each and how he overcame them. Readers will see much of his charismatic personality shine through as he unfolds each topic with lots of colorful anecdotes and high-paced energy. They surely will feel as though they are traveling with Jakes on his safari as he references the created world often and builds his tales around their natural attributes. Fans of his previous works will find this new volume as inspirational and upbeat as all the others. After all, Jakes is a can-do type of guy who instinctively see the possibilities wherever he goes in life.
