Don't Let Go

Don't Let Go

Back in high school, Napoleon “Nap” Dumas lost his twin brother, Leo, to a tragic accident. Leo and his girlfriend, Diana, went out one night and ended up dead by the side of the railroad tracks, horribly mangled. It has always been said that twins have a special bond, so Nap took the loss especially hard. He didn’t know why Leo and Diana would have been on the tracks or if they tried to play a dangerous game with the train --- and lost. He does know that the stories surrounding the events of that long-ago night are still murky, made even murkier by the disappearance of his girlfriend, Maura, on the same night.

Now, when two cops from a neighboring town show up on Nap’s doorstep with news that another of his classmates has been murdered, the back of his neck tingles. Worse yet, they say they have found Maura’s fingerprints at the scene. Nap himself is a special kind of cop and, true to cop philosophy, doesn’t believe in coincidence. While investigating, he learns about an exclusive “club” that his brother, Diana, the latest victim and a couple of others had secretly formed in high school. Nap thought he was aware of everything in Leo’s life, but he’s beginning to see a darker side of him, a side he had no idea existed.

"DON’T LET GO is a one-day read. I say that because you won’t be able to put it down once you open it. You’ll love Nap Dumas, a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t pussyfoot around."

Back then, there was a military base in the midst of their town. The numerous warning signs posted and the protective fencing surrounding the compound had the opposite effect of its intended purpose. Instead of scaring the teenagers away, it drew them toward the place, piquing their curiosity. They spied on it from the woods and partied just out of range of the spotlights.

Today, though, the base stands abandoned. And since Leo and Diana were found on the other side of town, there’s no reason to suspect any connection between the base and their deaths. The same goes for the recent murder victim. But then another member of the defunct club goes missing, and every one of Nap’s alarm bells starts screaming. Who is stalking his classmates? And why now, after 15 years? So far, Maura remains on the run. But how long will it be until the killers catch up with her? Everything seems to come back to the base. So what is Nap missing?

DON’T LET GO is a one-day read. I say that because you won’t be able to put it down once you open it. You’ll love Nap Dumas, a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t pussyfoot around. He gets the job done without feeling the need for a great deal of witness coddling, worthless finesse or sugary platitudes. This is a fellow who wants to cut to the chase, even when dealing with cops. You’d think he might at least try to play their game with them, but no, he goes right for shortcutting red tape and bypassing BS.

Nap is that person we all sort of want to be, that person who doesn’t waste time dancing around the issue, that person patiently waiting for a story to unfold at the teller’s pace. His life motto seems to be: Let’s get this done! You won’t want to miss DON’T LET GO. Get this book now.
