YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults 2017

The YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction honors the best nonfiction book published for young adults (ages 12-18) during a Nov. 1 - Oct. 31 publishing year. The award winner will be announced annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting Youth Media Awards, with a shortlist of up to five titles named the first week of December. The award is administered by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association.

- The winner of the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults is MARCH: Book Three created by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell.
 
- Four other books were finalists for the award: HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: A Woman Living History by Karen Blumenthal; IN THE SHADOW OF LIBERTY: The Hidden History of Slavery, Four Presidents, and Five Black Lives by Kenneth C. Davis; SAMURAI RISING: The Epic Life of Minamoto Yoshitsune written by Pamela S. Turner, illustrated by Gareth Hinds; and THIS LAND IS OUR LAND: A History of American Immigration written by Linda Barrett Osborne.
