The Mildred L. Batchelder Award 2015

The Mildred L. Batchelder Award is a citation awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a language other than English in a country other than the United States, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States.

 

- The winner of the Mildred L. Batchelder Award is MIKIS AND THE DONKEY, written by Bibi Durmon Tak, illustrated by Philip Hopman and translated by Laura Watkinson. 

 
-Two Batchelder Honor Books also were selected: HIDDEN: A Child’s Story of the Holocaust written by Loic Dauvillier, illustrated by Marc Lizano, color by Greg Salsedo and translated by Alexis Siegel; and NINE OPEN ARMS by Benny Lindelauf, illustrated by Dasha Tolstikova and translated by John Nieuwenhuizen.
